About the Site

The World was all before them, where to choose
Their place of rest, and Providence their guide
John Milton, Paradise Lost

Paradise Tossed began as a blog about poetry and technology, and has grown into a resource for discovering the myriad ways in which poetics and technology collide. These two worlds are more and more becoming one: it is nearly impossible to be a poet without sustaining some sort of online presence, and it is hard to live in the tech world without experiencing or interacting with the poetic. At PT, we want to further open these worlds to each other, and we want to guide you to experience the fullness of both. Our Quick Clicks display the latest in both these fields, and our Essay and Podcast sections cover topics in more depth. In addition our Resource pages feature all the sites and tools we've covered along with a few that need no introduction. We encourage you to look around: the World is all before you.

About the Crew

John Robert Ladd is the founder and editor of Paradise Tossed. He's a writer, poetry student, and confirmed geek living in Washington, DC. The most notable objects of his geekery include formal poems, postmodern plays, crossword puzzles, the Internet, and dead languages. He is also the cohost of the PT Podcast, and the one who tweets. Literally and figuratively, he wears many hats.

Hazel Jennings is a contributing writer that understands the basis of this blog in a pretty monstrous way: she makes her living as the copywriter and social media manager for an on-line designer furniture company. She's mixing the art of writing with advancing technologies all the work-day long. When not at work, she enjoys dinosaurs, writing and telling stories about non-furniture related topics, hanging out with her two terriers, and spending as much time outside as physically possible.

J.P. Quayle is a contributing writer and resident graphic designer for Paradise Tossed. As an active entertainment blogger and music enthusiast, he has a passion for covering all aspects of the music industry. Travis King is a poet, fiction writer, and essayist from the Pacific Northwest. He is currently a student of English and linguistics at Portland State University. He obviously loves poetry but is still unsure about technology; he hopes his contributions here at Paradise Tossed will give him a chance to work through the dysfunctional relationship he currently has with all things technological.
